March Captain's Cup Events!
Captain's Cup 2000 Meter Row: March 8-11
Registration Deadline is March 8th - 11th, Monday through Thursday
Teams of 4, at least one male and one female
Teams must set a day and time with the Athletic Director to compete, cannot time yourselves.
Each team member rows 500 meters and records their time before the next competitor begins
Sign up forms will be located at the gym, gear issue front desk.
Captain's Cup Chili Cookoff: March 12
At the Golden Anchor, Friday, March 12, 1600 - 1800. There will be beverage and appetizer specials.
Door prizes will be given. Captain Cups Points will be awarded.

Captain's Cup Scratch Individual Bowling: March 19
Registration Deadline is Wednesday, March 17. Register at the gym, front desk, gear issue area.
Male and Female Divisions, maximum of 32 bowlers only!
Bowling begins at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 19. One round only, consists of 3 games.
Top scores for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Captain's Cup Basketball Tournament: March 28
Double Elimination Tournament.
Tournament begins Sunday, March 28.
Registration Deadline: March 24. Meeting for Team Captains same day at 12:00 noon in the MWR Conference Room.Games will be played Sunday: 1:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 4:00 p.m.
Games will be played on Monday-Thursday: 6:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
City League basketball rules apply to this tournament.
Fun Event:
Indoor Iditarod Competition, Race Against the Real Iditarod Race!
Begins Saturday, March 6
Ends: Approximately 10 days (either when the first Iditarod sled team finishes or your team has reached 1112 miles, which is Wasilla to Nome)
Registration Deadline: Thursday, March 4. Teams consist of 6 to 10 team members (no substitutes).
Teams Entered: Each team will register their team with a team name, individual names and their command for each person on the team.
Captains of Teams: Captains of each team will be responsible for letting the Athletic Director know the miles of each person/their team totals per day or every other day. The Athletic Director will convert the meters of the rowing to miles. Just send in your meters.
Open to all Coast Guard Cutter ships (can do this underway) and all MWR eligible ID card holders.
Equipment Used: You can use the treadmills, rowing machines or the elliptical (no bikes are allowed).
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to teams when they are the first to reach designated checkpoint areas. An overall team prize of a bowling party will be given to the top team which finishes first.
Map: We will have an enlarged map of the real Iditarod with checkpoint areas. Each team will have a little dog sled with their team number on it. We will move the dog sled to each checkpoint area as each team advances.***This is not a Captain's Cup Event...just a fun event!***
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Personal Trainers are now available. Beth Davis 486-7016 and Ron Williams (760)391-3931. Ron is also teaching the Kodiak Body Attack class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Aerobics Room.

BEAR VALLEY GOLF COURSE
The Bear Valley Golf Course is closed for the season. It is a beautiful nine-hole course set in the valley just above Buskin Lake. The Morale, Well-being, and Recreation Division of the U.S.C.G. Integrated Support Command Kodiak operates the course. The facilities include a driving range and a pro shop. Located three miles to the west on Anton Larson Road, Bear Valley Golf Course is open May to October, depending on weather and course conditions. The course operates daily from 8:00 a.m. weekdays and 7:00 a.m. Sat., Sun., and Holidays. Closing is two hours before sunset for the last tee off.
The Pro Shop concession stand serves beer, soda, and hotdogs. Range balls, equipment rental and a quality line of golf gear and clothing are also available at the Pro Shop. For more information about the course and green fees, call the MWR Office at 487-5108 or the Pro Shop at 487-5323.
