BOAT HOUSE
Come enjoy the best fishing in the world! Equipment available for rental at the MWR Boat House includes: 23' Pacific Skiffs with cabins (seasonal and weather dependent rentals),13' and 16' Scamp camping trailers, 21’ Aspen Trail camping trailers, bait, tackle, downriggers, fishing poles (for both Halibut and Salmon), various size rafts and outboard engines. To keep your catch fresh, multiple commercial vacuum sealers are available at the boat house. The boat house has sealer bags and insulated shipping boxes in stock. We even provide short term freezer space in our large walk-in freezer to keep your catch cold (see bottom of this page for more info on our freezer policy!). A crab cooker and fish cleaning facility are available adjacent to the MWR Marina dock.
The 23' Pacific boat rental season starts Friday, May 29th! Boat reservations are limited to 14 days in advance for those with a current digital MWR Boat Card (see details below for acquiring a card).
You can now reserve a boat slip at our MWR Marina! We have nine (9) designated boat slips available for rental periods starting at 0900 to 0800 the following day. $5.00 per day for up to seven (7) days per rental period, not to exceed three (3) weeks per season (May-Oct). Please note that patrons must be MWR Eligible to use the facility and equipment.
MWR Boat Card Requirements
Kodiak MWR digital Boat Cards must be renewed every four
years. Please note that past year card holders will be required
to complete the Boat House boating test in order to receive a
card for the 2026 rental season.
All patrons must have, in their possession, a valid I.D. card to
verify MWR eligibility and also a current digital Kodiak MWR
Boat Card attached to their Sportsman Web account via Activity
Reg (link below) before any boat or raft with an engine can be
rented. This digital Boat Card is attached to the patron's account
by the Boat House staff upon completion of below listed steps.
This digital Kodiak MWR Boat Card is stored within your
Activity Reg account and is obtained by completing the
following items:
1) Complete the Boating Safety Certification for the state of
Alaska: Boating Safety Certification
This completion certificate must be texted to the Boat House

2) Review the 2026 Boat House SOP and pass the Kodiak MWR
Boat House Test at MWR Boat House Test. Passing score is 80%
and will automatically notify the Boat House staff upon
completion. This is the ONLY step that is required each season.
3) Create a Activity Reg account and profile:

4) (Optional) A Check Ride with a Boat House staff member is
not currently mandatory. Patrons may request a check ride prior
to their reservation date to get familiar with the boat and local
area. Please contact the MWR Boat House to schedule. The Boat
House staff may REQUIRE a check ride if deemed
necessary.
Scamp Campers:
Brand new 2025 model 13’ and 16’ Scamp trailers available for rental. For more information on the layout of the campers, visit www.scamptrailers.com. Your vehicle must be equipped with trailer lights and a ball/hitch rated for the capacity of the trailer. Please reference the Boat House SOP for a detailed list of trailer amenities and specific trailer light and ball size requirements for all trailers. Aspen Trail Campers:
2023 model 21’ Aspen Trail camping trailers are available. Fully equipped with an Electric stove, A/C, power retractable awning, 3.3 cu. ft. refrigerator, microwave, toilet, shower, queen bed, twin bunk beds and a dinette table that drops down for a 4th bed. Sleeps up to 5. Please reference the Boat House SOP for a detailed list of trailer amenities and specific trailer light and ball size requirements for all trailers.
Boat & Raft Rentals
We have 23' Pacific Boats w/ cabin, 10’, 12', and 14’ inflatable rafts, portable 8hp, 9.9hp, and 15hp outboard engines. Various size Ultralight Alpaca Pack Rafts.
Other Rentals
We also have ATV/UTV trailers, 1,000 & 3,000 watt Honda generators, a large selection of fishing poles for various fisheries, landing nets, down riggers, Life Jackets (free!). Push lawnmowers and string trimmers are available at the Boat House for a small rental fee.
Boat House Freezer Policy:
Storage will be limited to two (2) boxes per person with a 60 days max storage period for all persons. This includes persons stationed on island as well as visitors. Each box MUST be labeled with a name and cell phone number. The key can be signed in/out with the Boat House staff during normal work hours. Patrons can visit CG Security Forces (MILPOL) for the key after hours. Please speak to a Boat House staff member for more information.
